I'm sorry, but I just haven't the time!

- Alice in Wonderland

So it really doesn't feel like a month has passed since I last posted. Actually, it's only been about three weeks but I still feel sort of bad... oops. This probably isn't a good omen given that so many blog writers suffer from Muteus Disneyitus where after the first week of arrival all posting ceases and you wonder if they've been spirited away to Neverland, or have accidentally fallen down Alice's rabbit hole and can no longer get any 3G network connection. (Don't you hate it when that happens?)

I can't remember how to read clocks! That's what my cellphone is for!
The reason for my lack of quietness comes down to two things: 1) Not much happening on the Disney front and 2) Life is busy! SUPER BUSY.

So first up, my police check has finally been sorted. Actually, it should have been sorted by the time of my last post if certain organisations *coughNZPOSTcough* had done their jobs properly. After waiting the 20 working days specified I emailed the Ministry of Justice, who promptly informed me that they had sent out my background check on the 4th of August, meaning I really should have gotten it by the 9th at the latest. Obviously, I didn't. But get this: I didn't even have to ask for them to resend it, THEY JUST DID IT.

That's right people, a NZ Government Department that ISN'T STUPID OR INEFFICIENT. Yeah. I was totally expecting to have to ring them up, listen to old New Zealand music for 30 minutes with constant reminders that I could use the website to find out things when I'd already tried. That's the MO of my more constant governmental companion. Studylink, you are such a gem.

Anyway, so I finally got the check in the mail and sent it off to Yummy Jobs (All clear of course. I'm way too much of an evil genius for them to know of my secret life of espionage. Or my life as a pop sensation for that matter). And after that I... had absolutely nothing Disney wise to do.

Waiting is BORING.

I've been on mid-semester break for the last two weeks, although I don't really remember much 'breaking'. I've pretty much either been at one of my two jobs or at glee rehearsal. The one exception to that has really been the RWC opening on Friday afternoon WHICH WAS TOTALLY AWESOME. It would have been better if I hadn't had to work at 5-10 but I got to check out the Waterfront Downtown before it got too crowded and then managed to get into the fanzone almost straight away and caught the after concert. Which was epic. MIDNIGHT YOUTH I LOVE YOU <3.

If you didn't understand half that paragraph you're probably not from NZ/Auckland and probably didn't understand it. I can't be bothered explaining it. Google is your friend.

Anyway, so today (at 5.01am, apparently) we got an email from Yummy Jobs which is sort of directing us to start properly looking at Insurance, with their own link to an American Based Insurer. It looked good at first but now I'm a little dubious after hearing about how ridiculously expensive medical care is in America. I'm leaning now towards 1 cover over travelsure, even if the latter is recommended by STA. Probably because they get a tidy commission on it. Unfortunately, unlike the aussies, Flight Centre here does travelsure too, not the price matching covermore. 1 Cover seems to cover everything at this point, but I'm going to double check and get a final quote which looks to be about half that of STA's travelsure.

I still don't think accommodation has actually been booked, but I've paid my share of it so... nothing to report. I bought the CUTEST little passport cover from work the other day, along with a matching bag tag. IT HAS A CUPCAKE ON IT. And it sort of matches my travel document folder so WIN WIN.

In other news, Pottermore! Alas, all my dreams have been dashed and I was not sorted into Ravenclaw. But this is only because the sorting hat knew my true soul and put me into the wisest house that also bears my favourite colour! SNAKES FTW. Still planning on buying some Hogwarts Robes when I'm over in the states, not sure if I'll go with Ravenclaw or Slytherin ones yet. I always knew I'd be one of the two. And, after all, Slytherins are made for greatness and who is going to the GREATEST most MAGICAL place in the world?

Oh yeah... that would be me.

Anywaaaaaaaaaaay I'm THINKING that I might just possibly maybe if I have time and can can be bothered start doing a vlog. It won't replace this, it will probably supplement it more than anything else. Currently I'm not sure if my photo camera is good enough to film it and my web cam on this computer is always a pain in the butt and not very nice. BUT WE SHALL SEE!

FINALLY... sending lots of warm fuzzies and waving supporter flags for all the Americans who are now finally in the process of applying for the Spring Programs that coincide with the beginning of mine! I hope to meet as many of you as possible, even though most of you seem to be avoiding the party that will (hopefully!) be Vista Way! I know you guys can do it, keep positive and don't stress out too much! Those of you I've talked to are fabmazing! Hope to see you guys in LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS.

Don't forget to ask me any questions you may have! The Ask Kiwi button is always available at the top of the page.
