- Peter Pan (1953)
Really this post should have been written two nights ago, because two nights ago was when the magic really started to become real. That's right, I now officially have a one way ticket to Disney World.
Look, I'm not a super organised person. I don't plan things all that well in advance. Usually my best effort is 'Work starts at 9am, better get up at 8.30am to get there on time'. Yet here I am before most of the other people I know with my tickets to get from Auckland to Orlando on the 4th of January!
Anyway, on Monday, after looking up flights all over the place and looking up Nadi airport to make sure it wasn't somewhere I couldn't stand to be in for an hour I attempted to book my flight from AKL to LAX online. But of course I couldn't because all my Disney funds are in my BNZ account which does not have a Visa Debit card like my Kiwibank one. I think I reached a point where I was starting to get scared that I'd miss out, which was probably unlikely, but hey, I'd earned the money with a bit to spare and I doubt anything better will turn up. (Will be totally bummed if it does *sigh*). But anyway, with the internet failing me I made my way to the STA on Queen Street and sat down with Rebecca and got everything sorted out. I walked out 20 minutes later, $1080 poorer but with 8 sheets of paper that put me on a flight to the states, leaving New Zealand at 1805 4/1/12 on Air Pacific. I'd much prefer Air New Zealand, they're fabulous, but not worth an extra $40 an hour.
Being excitable and stupid I forgot to use my Prezzi card to pay for some of the flight. It has $150 on it that I've put aside for Disney and honestly I'm quite nervous about losing it, or it not working which would quite obviously suck. But I can use it for something else, of course. But I didn't realise for two days, which was really silly.
While there, Rebecca also gave me a quote for Insurance... $1693, or something like that. *shudder*. That's with Travelsure, but I think I've been told that Covermore is better or something? Anyway I don't need to sort it out probably until November so I have plenty of time to look around at the options.
Anyway, that's half the story. Excited as I was, I dropped into Borders and showed off my ticket. (One response: Aleysha: "I hate you!" Me: "Awww, I hate you too") Then I went home, jumped onto Facebook and let all the Aussies and Kiwis heading over know! Yay! Even better, I then got told about a LAX > MCO (The Orlando Airport) departing in the evening I arrive, which was exactly what I wanted to do, but all the ones I'd found were too expensive. So in my happy buzz I went and booked that online (This time surrendering and using my Kiwibank account). I didn't really want to hang around in LA, and now I get to go with Jennifer (CUPCAAAAAAKES) and Amy on that flight... yaaaaaaaay. And it was a good price too.
The reason I'm only posting this now was because I was way too hyper on Tuesday and then yesterday was Harry Potter! My friend came over and we watched part 1 before going to the part 2 midnight release. Even more excited about Harry Potter World now, it's giving me something to hold onto even though now the releases are all over *sniff*
I feel like there's been a lot of talk online, which is great! Tomorrow is also Auckland Meet Up day, which should be fun before I head off to work. We've been talking about arranging a dinner somewhere on the 6th of January, the night before we check in. Looking forward to that, even if it is more than 5 months away.
Oh, today I also booked my optometrist appointment for next Friday to get my new boring Disney Look glasses. Fun fun!
Don't know when I'll next be posting, maybe tomorrow after the meet up, but if I don't manage for a while its probably because uni has started up again. My schedule has changed for the better I think, have a look ^_^
Have a Magical Day everyone! Especially if it involves Harry Potter ^_^
